Victoria – Crayfish Bay

Welcome to Crayfish Bay — a tiny, tucked-away inlet near Cape Otway that feels like it was carved out for solitude, not sessions. Remote, rugged, and framed by steep bushy cliffs and rocky headlands, it’s more postcard than playground.

The bay itself is small and enclosed, with reef and rocks dominating both ends. Winds here are unpredictable due to the tight geography — swirling, shifting, and mostly shadowed. Even on a solid SE or SW breeze, the wind rarely settles cleanly across the water.

There’s barely any beach to launch from, the swell is filtered through reef fingers, and the only access is a steep track down from the Cape. No space, no safety margin, no real reason to ride here — unless you’re just ticking off remote spots for the sake of it like myself.

Great for a hike and a dip. Kiting? Not really. There are better, safer options just up the coast.
